Region: | Highlands / Speyside |
Whisk(e)y type: | Scotch Malt |
Distillery: | Cardhu Distillery |
Age: | 18 Years |
Alcohol: | 40% |
Colour: | Polished copper |
Flavour: | Does not go just forwards but attractively "natural" and in the course of the time very balanced and complex. Macerated fruits; Pears, plums, cherries, a breath of pineapple and gooseberry, soft smells of brier, menthol and leather polished. To this Christmassy cake or buttery pastries. A little water opens everything up to the elegance. |
Taste: | Mellow and sweet, supple but with lively acid, the soft, fruity core is embedded in chocolate, combined with fruit. With some water it gets softer, altogether, because the balance and the taste remain the same but lighter. |
Finish: | Suspenseful and complex, long, mellow, gentle, elegantly dry and rich cocoa. |
Drink recommendation: | The soft taste develops with a teaspoon of water best. |
Cardhu is Gaelic and means black rock. The distillery of the same name became founded 1824 by John Cumming in the heart of Speyside.
