Article: Cardhu 15 Years
Country: Scotland
Region: Highlands / Speyside
Whisk(e)y type: Scotch Malt
Distillery: Cardhu Distillery
Age: 15 Years
Alcohol: 40%
Characteristics: Finest malted barley, pure spring water from the Mannoch Hills, slow traditional distilling and skilled maturation in oak all play their part in its creation.
Flavour: Complexity develops slowly in the glass, with bare hints of a fruity wealth and tasty complexity, a swivel of the glass releases enticing vanilla and tropical fruit going over to dried fruit, fruit flan with flakes and almonds. Bonus of water brings the typical Speyside character and a little acidically, with the time larger depth and complexity: Sweet, tasty and full, at the end with thick toffee and coconut.
Taste: Very viscous, an adventure in the mouth, refreshing, then pepperily and easily chared, still sweet but now with toffee and chocolate, crème brûlée. With water less viscous and sweet, almost without acid, very nice.
Finish: Mellow, bright and easily dry, with dark chocolate, medium-long, with a breath of soft smoke at the end.
Drink recommendation: Perfectly pure or as a Hot toddy with lemon, hot water and cloves.

Cardhu is Gaelic and means black rock. The distillery of the same name became founded 1824 by John Cumming in the heart of Speyside.
