Heitersheim, a climatically preferred sun spoilt area in the heart of the Markgräflerland between Freiburg and Basel, between Black Forest and Rhine in the southwest of Germany.

Karl Zotz purchased the eastern part of the Maltese castle to Heitersheim anno 1845. He built up a vineyard business and put the foundation stone for the wine-growing estate shown off today. Already soon, he entrusted the destiny of the vineyard to his son Julius who had it registered with the register of the ducal district court in 1865.

Today's vineyard was built at 1900 and is in an immediate proximity of the Maltese castle.
It is commanded by Martin and Michael Zotz in the 4th and 5th generation. It manages 75 hectares of vineyards today. And therefore it belongs to the great private vineyard business in Germany with that.
