In 1922 August Picht started with the production of real Nordhäuser spirit and liqueurs in Nordhausen/Harz . The label "Harzer Grubenlicht" arises at the beginning of the thirties.
In the conversation with a veteran miner this had the fears that the ore mining of the Harz could be adjusted one day and the expensive light, the pit light, therefore would go out for ever. The liquid "pit light" was born.
The company wants to remain faithful to this tradition and so the bottles of "pit light of the Harz" shine certainly today - produced carefully according to the old traditional family recipe from 48 different herbs from all the world.
