Characteristics: | It is of golden brown colour, smells of leather and open fire, soft and full-bodied on the tongue. Very balanced between malt and peat. |
In 1987 John Teeling founded the Cooley distillery, bought rich in tradition, for many years shut down distilleries, built a modern efficient distillery and started the waking of the once world-famous Irish Whiskeys in Dundalk at the Irish East coast. One of this Whiskeys is the Connemara. It is one of the few Peated Single Malts. This indicate, the barley is dried over peat fire and gets the typical smoky taste therefore.
