In the 19th century the smuggling of alcohol over the Baltic Sea to Sweden flourished. In 1889 the smuggler Carl Petter Andersson with his smuggler boat ANDALÖ turned out into heavy seas. The smuggled alcohol mixed with the fresh sea buckthorn syrup which Andersson had taken on board for the refreshment to a wonderful tasting spirituous liquor. At home ashore Anderson refined the recipe and left his invention to his descendants under the seal of most severe discretion.
