The native country of armagnac is the ancient province Gascogne, extending along the Atlantic in the southwest of France south of Bordeaux to the Spanish border. Already the musketry took the region to literary fame, but when the French king XVIII. awarded the patent of the regional distillation "Alambic Armagnacais" than in 1818, the triumphal march started with one of the noblest spirits of France. The area Bas Armagnac delivers the best qualities of the region.
