The native country of armagnac is the ancient province Gascogne, extending along the Atlantic in the southwest of France below Bordeaux to the Spanish border. The armagnac distillery founded in the year 1882 by Jean Samalens is in fourth generation and still in the family property meanwhile. The parent company is located in the place Laujuzan, surrounded by oakwoods, in the Bas Armagnac where the best basic wines for armagnac originate. The distillery is the most important one in the region with 8 Alambics. Also old drops are part of the true treasures of the house, dating back to the year 1888.
