Article: Pol Roger Rosé Vintage 2008
Country: France
Region: Epernay
Producer: Champagne Pol Roger
Vintage: 2008
Grape variety: 65% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay
Alcohol: 12.5%
Characteristics: Fine and long lasting little bubbles emphasize the foam formation.
Colour: Deep, shimmering pink
Flavour: The nose exudes elegant raspberry, red currant and almond flavours. If the Cuvée gets air it develops the notes of woods berries and shiners which are very effective by the Pinot Noir Grapes.
Taste: A harmonious mixture of red berries at the palate. Elegance, freshness and a good balance thanks to a beautiful structure characterize this Brut Rosé Vintage. A good balance mixes simultaneously with vinosity and freshness.
Finish: The finish shows approvals of citrus fruits.
Drink recommendation: Ideal to salmon but also to pink meat (e.g. game birds). It harmonizes ideally with fruit flan or fruity crumbles because the freshness, the lavish and crumbly of the dessert complete themselves very well with the elegant structure of the wine.
Dosage: 8 g/l

The Pol Roger Rosé Vintage is based on the Brut Vintage. It was added before the bottling and second fermentation, approximately 15% of still red wine (Pinot Noir) from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. Produced only in limited quantities, the Brut Rosé Vintage is aged 7 years in our cellars before being released onto the market.

Vinification and maturation:
After the harvest the grapes were pressed fast and carefully. Already during the pressing process the grape juice was, cleared statically for the first time, the degumming took place at 6° degrees Celsius in the wine cellars for 24 hours a second time.
The alcoholic fermentation took place at cool 18° degrees Celsius in thermal regulated high-grade steel tanks where the individual types of vine and situations became vinified before the final assemblage. The malolactic fermentation is carried out with all wines of the house. After the testing, assemblage and filling the foam formation and the maturation of the Cuvées takes place in the cool cellars at 33 metres of depth. Every bottle is riddled by hand like in the past before the yeast is removed and the dosage added.
Before the dispatch of the bottles these rest once again at least three months.
