The Beast of Duftown was created by Dr. Alexander Cowie, a man who journeyed home from exotic lands to unexpectedly inherit the Mortlach Distillery and dram from his father, George. From Hong Kong, Alexander set sail a doctor and docked in Scotland a distiller, to be the inventor of the unique 2.81 distillation technique known as "The Way."
That technique, still used today, was shaped by the hands of a well-travelled man, influenced by his experiences abroad and his scientific acumen. It has been passed down through generations if initiated distillers since 1896.
This 14 year old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is inspired by the spices of the far east, with notes of nutmeg, vanilla oolong and cloves, a celebration of Alexander's way home from Hong Kong and "The Way" he crafted thereafter.
