The first METAXA Grande Fine COLLECTORS EDITION was created by the Greek designer Rodanthi Senduka, who has formed the emblem of the Olympic Games of Athens in 2004 among other things.

The Metaxa owes its name to the inventor and founder of the company: Spyros Metaxa who moved with his two brothers 1880 to Piraeus to try their luck. On extensive vineyards he started to combine different wines with each other and under the application of traditional methods to distil in the south of Attica. The excellent result bears his name - Metaxa - since then.
