The 147th The Open took place in Carnoustie, Scotland from July 15th to 22nd, 2018. On the occasion of this final Loch Lomond presents three new single malt whiskies which appear in limited edition.
This single malt whisky is a tribute to the Scottish professional golfer Paul Lawrie. He started in its over 30-year career in more than 600 European tours and represented Europe both 1999 and 2012 in the Ryde Cup. His most famous victory was 1999 in Carnoustie, as Lawrie - at that time place 241 in the world - by a 36 hole qualifying tournament came to the "The Open" golf championship and won.
Paul Lawrie has cooperated with Loch Lomond master blender Michael Henry to create this special edition. For this single malt whisky was used, that was distilled in the year 1999 the year in which Paul Lawrie won "The Open" in Carnoustie. The barrel choice reflects the fruit character, which results from the innovative Loch Lomond distillery stills.
