Loch Lomond Inchmurrin 12 Years 46 %

Inchmurrin is distilled at Loch Lomond Distillery but is distinctly different from Loch Lomond single malt because Inchmurrin is fermented using different yeasts and is distilled in unique stills. Inchmurrin's spirit still has 13 bubble cap distillation trays and a water cooled dephlegmator (the last plate before the condenser) above the pot still. This increases the reflux and control of the stills and allows a much more precise recovery of flavour compounds, than is possible in any other single malt stills.

Inchmurrin's spirit still design is similar to the famous “Lomond” still, which traditionally has two sets of plates above the pot on hinges, but is superior as the spirit still's 13 bubble cap trays are more effective and flexible in developing flavour compounds because it offers infinitely more distillation control. As a consequence Inchmurrin has a very different middle cut to Loch Lomond single malt.
