J. Bally is one of the oldest brands of Martinique rum. The distillery was founded by the Frenchman Jaques Bally in Martinique in Le Carbet (west coast). He was the first one who had the idea to let the rum mature in wooden barrels to award complex flavours to it. He also created the triangular bottle which established his rum in the whole world. The burning apparatus were relocated to the distillery Simon at the East coast in 1978. Bally is still one of the last rum distilleries using these old Charentaiser "Coeur de Choffe". The warehouses and the bottling plants still are located in Le Carbet.
