The family Filliers lived until the beginning of the 18th century exclusively of the farming. 1792 Karel Lodewijk Filliers was born in Bachte-Maria-Leerne, 15 km west of Ghent and had the idea of extending the family-owned enterprise by the production of Genever at an early age.
In 1880 the founder Karel Lodewijk Filliers was responsible that a pot still of one's own was installed on the farm still used agriculturally to overlook the process of distilling better. Kamiel Filliers ( born 1836) supports him in the now second generation.
Firmin Filliers was born 1888 and belongs to the third generation of the family. He took over the leadership of the business and created the recipe for the Filliers Dry Gin 28 in 1928.
After the second World War the brothers Louises and Carlos Filliers took the corporate management in fourth generation and were responsible for the successful development of the existing qualities.
Since the year 1980 the nephews Jan (1957 - 2008) and Bernard Filliers play a part in the management.
The company Filliers was extended continuously over decades and nowadays is a quality supplier in the section of Genever. This is already the fifth generation.
