Ferreira is the undisputed no. 1 in its native country and furthermore one of the biggest port exporters today, too. More than that, however, the reputation of the house counts as a guarantor for top quality.
Primarily responsible for this facts are the more than 300 hectares vineyard of their own, counting among the cream pieces of the cultivable area quite officially. The grapes of the traditional Portuguese types of vine get much sun on the hillside locations sloping to the Douro valley steeply into terraces in the hot, dry summer months. So the strength, fullness and maturity which mould the unique character of the port develop.
These ports are produced from white grapes and are either semi-dry or sweet. They are very charming wines with flavours and taste notes of honey, southern fruits and citrus fruits.
