The wine-growing estate Metzger (butcher) counts with an acreage of 18 hectares and sales of 150 000 to 160 000 bottles in the year as one of the larger family commanded wine-growing estates in the Palatinate. The roots of the business reach back more than one hundred years. Uli Metzger´s ancestors were farmers who operated field and cattle ranching. Father Volker then has concentrated on the wine-growing. Moreover, the family runs a restaurant and a pension with 25 rooms. But not enough this: if a winegrower has filled a good wine, then he has done the legal portion successfully. But according to the duty the free skating follows. This means today more than ever making a good figure also visually. Uli Metzger from Grünstadt an der Weinstraße masters the legal portion with bravado and the free skating with a brilliant trick. With much self-mockery and deeper meaning he "handled" his surname and creates the cow to his heraldic animal.
