Château Trotte Vieille is as 1. Grand Cru Classé the highly classified Château in the stable Borie-Manoux. A parchment from the year 1453 already covers the use of the - peculiar - name and winegrowing. An older lady lived here in the 14./15. century. Due to her way of walking she was called in the place Saint-Emilion " old trotter ", „la trotte vieille“. The second wine therefore is named „La Vieille Dame de Trotte Vieille“. Some of the vines still date from the time in front of phylloxera and therefore are at least 140 years old. The roots of these vines have delved themselves into the mountain more than 20 metres in the course of the decades.
