The story of Ballantine's Scotch Whisky starts in the Scottish Edinburgh in the year 1827 when George Ballantine opened a small food shop there with attached wine and liquor store. Since 1853 was permitted by law the so-called blending, George Ballantine created the finest whiskies trading under the name George Ballantine & Son Ltd. and made one of the best known brand names from his name soon, which then stood for excellent blended scotch whisky. The coat of arms of the house Ballantine still to be found today on every bottle then joined in 1938: The Scottish flag, paired with four components which are most important for the production of good scotch whisky: barley, water, pot stills and oak barrels.
