Adnams Rye whisky is based on rye from John Adnams' own farm in Reydon, whose brewery and distillery are situated only some miles away from his farm in Southwold. Rye is already cultivated for centuries in Reydon to which the place name also alludes. It consists of the two old English words "rey" (for rye) and "don" (for hill). The village is at the coast of Suffolk.
For this suspenseful whisky the Adnams team has  recourse to about 140 years of experience of brewing and distilling. The mash consists of 75% rye and 25% barley in which the rye awards a terrific depth and an expressive character to the whisky with a drier and tastier finish.
