Cultivable area Armagnac
The native country of armagnac is the ancient province Gascogne, extending along the Atlantic in the southwest of France below Bordeaux to the Spanish border. Already the musketry took the region to literary fame, but when the French king XVIII. awarded the patent of the regional distillation "Alambic Armagnacais" than in 1818, the triumphal march started with one of the noblest spirits of France. The area Bas Armagnac delivers the best qualities of the region.

Producer Armagnac Samalens
The armagnac distillery founded in the year 1882 by Jean Samalens is in fourth generation and still in the family property meanwhile. The parent company is located in the place Laujuzan, surrounded by oakwoods, in the Bas Armagnac where the best basic wines for armagnac originate. The distillery is the most important one in the region with 8 Alambics. Also old drops are part of the true treasures of the house, dating back to the year 1888.
